During his formative years in Newport, NC, Jim had plenty of exposure to a diverse group of local craftsmen from which to learn and be mentored towards a life in the construction trades industry and developed an early interest in working with wood.
Taking carpentry and drafting classes was only a natural step to further his interest in the constructions trades. After graduating from Carteret Community College’s Electrical program, Jim immediately found employment in the electrical field. On weekends, if not working overtime on electrical projects, Jim would help his neighbor with his home maintenance business or his friends in their Contracting Businesses, doing anything from framing houses, roofing, appliance repair, siding replacement and much else. His interest in the Construction Industry continues to this day and he feels very fortunate to have been given the opportunities to learn from some of the best in the business. Jim carries with him the valuable lessons taught him during those formative years and tries to carry on the legacy of all the Craftsmen who shared their knowledge and experiences with him through his endeavors in the trades.
